NPL’s FEA models have been validated using analytical calculations and experimental measurements collected using this and other rigs, designed and built in-house. Careful experiment design and meticulous data capture were key to obtaining useable results from a manageable number of modelling runs. From the corrected and validated model, further models more closely reflecting SILA architecture will be developed. NPL complimented our measurement accuracy.
