We’ve retrofitted SILA P7 into a Schunk PHL-63-80S gripper, replacing its pneumatic actuator. Tests showed clear performance, cost and time saving benefits with no jamming risk cf. conventional EMAs:
- Objects can be gripped at high rate using simple current control without need for a buffer zone or knowing object dimensions.
- Soft and fragile objects like groceries can be gripped securely purely using current control – without extra sensors.
- Objects are gripped with high accuracy(4μm) and force(750N).

Schunk’s priority is high power gripping and SILA is not there yet, but Schunk confirms SILA suitability for service robotics.
